Bestie Selfie

Sorry I've not been around much this week or visiting your blogs.I've just stepped back from my laptop and just been enjoying the superb weather we've been having here and also watching the Commonwealth Games at night.

I made this card for my neighbour's grand daughter for the same girl the previous nurse card was for. She's best friends with the girl and wanted a card to show that.I've used the fab image again from Saturated Canary and it's called Best Friend Selfie.I coloured them with Copics and paper pieced their tops.I was asked for bling so added gems to the mobile phone and other bling dazzlers, not forgetting the glitter 30 cut on my Cricut.

Creative Blog Hop

I was asked by my Thursday night crafty buddy Susan if I'd join in with the Creative Bloggers Hop.It's an ongoing blog hop every Monday with different creative bloggers taking part. You then nominate 3 others to carry on the hop.

Now for the questions......

1.What am I working on?

I've got a couple of birthday cards to make for the next week,so have made a start on them. One is for me and the other is for a lovely lady who orders from me regularly.

2.How does my work differ from others in my genre?

I just make cards that I think will appeal to others.I know my style isn't everyone's cup of tea.I'm not great at CAS! I don't tend to follow trends...I'm a bit of a rebel..lol.I just do what makes me happy really.

3.Why do I write/create what I do?

It's my way of relaxing, unless I have 3475657925463 cards to make at one time...lol.I love to go out to my cabin and just sit and create whatever ideas come to mind for whatever project I'm working on.Unless of course Mr.Mojo has other ideas!

4.How does your writing/creative process work?

I decide on what image best suits the card I've to make, unless it's just me playing about with new stamps and not for a commission. If it's for a DT post it might have a certain theme.Once I've chosen the image I choose what papers I want to use, then colour the image to match/contrast them.I then put the card together depending on how I want it to look or by following a sketch if I'm really stuck. Then just embellish it until it looks how I want.(it doesn't always turn out like I had imagined!)

Now I'm supposed to nominate 3 fellow bloggers to carry on the hop next Monday, but I'm only adding two as I'm only recently back to blogging and not following many at the moment.
So here are my 2 choices.

I've known Erika for a while now and have been lucky enough to meet her on a few occasions. We had a colouring session at the Sugar Nellie shop in Elgin a few years ago and she made the most delicious flapjacks.I love her variety of cards and her pictures she posts as it's from one of my most favourite places.

I've seen Pam's cards for years on Docrafts but only recently been following her blog. She makes the most beautiful cards and craft projects.

30th Birthday Card For A Nurse

I was asked by my neighbour if I could make a 30th Birthday card for a girl who had just qualified as a nurse. I decided to use the Saturated Canary image called Heartstrings who is a nurse in her scrubs. Not in uniform like I had to wear when I was a nurse. Then again I trained with Florence Nightingale it was so long ago!!

I used gauze instead of ribbon and left it like a little rolled up bandage at the end.The clipboard was made using a tag die and I added the clip to it.The sticking plaster was just made using a piece of beige card and a swiss dots embossing folder. Finally I added some blue beads into the little bottle to look like a jar of pills.I finished it off with a large number 30 cut on my Cricut from Glitter card.

This is Hippie Chick from Sugar Nellie from the Simply Sassy range that Krista Smith designed.
I've cut the circle aperture out the front of the card and framed it with daisies using my trusty X-Cut Daisy punches. The image is mounted inside the card.

Memory Book

I was asked by one of the teachers in Louis school if I'd make a memory book as the headteacher was retiring after 24 years at the school.I've made a few before for teachers leaving so I pretty much stick to the same style as it works.I've used the gorgeous Papermania Eau De Nil papers as there are plenty to choose from.I even used frantage which I NEVER have any luck with.It worked! I do warn you there are loads of pictures.

Hope I haven't bored you yet! I made loads of tags so the staff could all write a personal message on them and pockets for them to slide into.
I hope she liked it!

Wedding Card

This is a wedding card I made for a friends wedding we went to on 21st of June.It was in the beautiful Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow city centre.

Grand Central Hotel
I prefer not to put coloured images on wedding cards unless someone specifically asks for it.I much prefer a more classic style.I've made the wedding sentiment the main focus and used the beautiful Little Birdie flowers which are available from Craft World but only in store.
